New Georgia Poll Finds Broad Bipartisan Support for Greater Hospital Accountability and 340B Transparency

WASHINGTON — A new survey of Georgia voters conducted by Echelon Insights on behalf of the American Resolve Action’s Hospital Accountability Project found overwhelming bipartisan support for increased oversight of hospitals, greater healthcare price transparency, and reforms to ensure that savings from the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program benefit patients.

The survey found that 89% of Georgia voters believe hospital prices should be closely monitored and assessed for affordability, while 88% support holding hospitals accountable if they misuse or fail to pass along 340B savings to patients.

“Georgia voters are sending a clear message that they want transparency, accountability, and lower healthcare costs,” said West Cuthbert of American Resolve Action. “Voters across the political spectrum believe hospitals should be held accountable for how taxpayer-supported drug discount savings are used, and they overwhelmingly support reforms that ensure those savings reach patients and communities.”

The survey also found strong support for specific reforms to the 340B program, including:

  • 85% support a pilot program requiring hospitals to verify how 340B savings are used.
  • 85% support policies ensuring savings are passed directly to patients.
  • 74% say patients should receive real prices — not estimates — before receiving hospital care.
  • 84% believe hospitals keeping 340B savings instead of passing them on to patients constitutes fraud, waste, and abuse.

Support for reform transcends party lines. Large majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents support increased accountability measures for hospitals participating in the 340B program.

The poll also found significant political implications for elected officials. Nearly four in five Georgia voters said they would be more likely to support a candidate who works to lower healthcare costs through improved hospital accountability and transparency. Conversely, 54% said they would be less likely to support an elected official who opposes policies requiring hospitals to document how 340B savings are used.

“Healthcare affordability remains one of the top concerns for Georgia voters, and they want leaders who are willing to take on the status quo,” Cuthbert said. “This polling makes clear that increasing transparency around hospital pricing and 340B spending is both good policy and good politics.”

The survey was conducted April 20-23, 2026, among 500 likely Georgia voters. The margin of error is ±5.5 percentage points.
